Their answers will be compared with the views of other members of the public across England and Scotland, thanks to the National Highways and Transport Public Satisfaction survey.
St Helens Council is one of 111 Local authorities to sign up to a standardised survey that will ask members of the public exactly the same questions, whether they live in the north or the south of the borough.
The survey, which is being run for the eleventh year, is the largest collaboration between local authorities offering the opportunity to compare results, share best practice and identify further opportunities to work together in the future.
The questionnaire will be sent to a minimum random sample of at least 3,300 residents from Friday 7 June , followed by a reminder – with local and national results to be published in late October 2019. Since the survey is based on a sample, residents that receive a copy are being urged to take part.
Councillor Lynn Clarke, St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “We’d like to hear from as many people as possible – as it’s important to hear a range of views.
“In December 2018, the council committed to invest £1.5m in the local highway network and the results so far – from repaired broken flags on public paths; refreshed road markings; the installation of an additional 4,800 energy efficient street lanterns as part of the council’s ‘invest to save’ programme; and of course the improvements made to Windle Island – are clear to see.
“However, the results from this survey will enable us to find out what residents in the St Helens Borough think about these important services and gives them the opportunity to say which services they think the council should prioritise and improve.”
Residents that receive the questionnaire can complete the survey online if they prefer, a short URL link will be printed on the front of the questionnaire and they will be required to enter a code before completing the questionnaire.
