Organisers are adding the final touches to a packed programme of events as part of next month’s (August) Newton Town Show.

Held annually in Newton-le-Willows’ Mesnes Park, Newton Town Show is organised by Newton and Earlestown Community Group (NECG) and considered to be the biggest free-to-attend event in St Helens Borough, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

Stannage Stunt Display Team will headline this year’s show, wowing audience members with jaw- dropping displays featuring some of the most dangerous and spectacular motorcycle and car stunts ever seen.

On top of this there will be an arts and crafts competition; music from local musicians; dance shows; thrilling helicopter tours – alongside food and craft stalls; fun fair amusements; artillery displays; axe throwing -and the traditional tug o’ war.

As before, the event will see dozens of classic car lovers show off their motors. If you have a vintage vehicle you want to display, simply arrive at Mesnes Park off Park Road North before 11:00am on the day.

And if that’s not enough vintage vehicles for you, visitors can hop on and off free classic bus ride as they please, calling at Earlestown bus station; Newton-le-Willows train station; Newton Cottage Hospital; Mesnes Park; and the Helicopter Pleasure flights.

Newton ward councillor and Chairman of the Town Show Organising Committee, Seve Gomez-Aspron, said: “I’m proud to chair the committee for the sixth year running.

“The quality of entertainment on offer at the Newton Town Show seems to grow and grow each year – and I’m delighted with the bill this year which certainly has something for everyone to enjoy.

“Hopefully the weather will be kind to us like in previous years which is a huge incentive for visitors to come out in their droves to support and enjoy the biggest free event in the borough in one of our many stunning green spaces.”

Newton Town Show will take place on Saturday 3 August, from 11am to 5pm.

Free parking will be available on the former St Aelreds playground off Cardinal Way.

NECG is always on the lookout for more stewards to make the day a great and safe experience for everyone.
