‘Spark in the Park’ – which forms part of the St Helens 150 events programme – is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the borough and beyond to Sherdley Park once again for a family-friendly show which will see fireworks launched in rhythm with popular music tracks.

St Helens Council’s portfolio holder for arts and culture, Councillor Gill Neal said: “This year we will be hosting a musical fireworks display which we believe will be hugely popular and attract a large audience from across the region.

“The fireworks display in Sherdley Park has increased in popularity over recent years and we are urging people to plan their journey via public transport, or to use the secure, designated car parks near the site and arrive in plenty of time.”

Secure, stewarded and fully lit car parking is available at Mere Grange; Elton Head Road; the Islamic Centre; Marshalls Cross Road; Sherdley Park; Lea Green Station and Sutton Leisure Centre for £10 per vehicle.

Hot food and drinks will be available from a number of stalls on the night to keep everyone warm – while a children’s funfair, open until 8:30pm, will also be in the park that evening to add to the fun.

Event goers are asked to leave their sparklers at home this year. Spent sparklers that can be missed during the clear up operation can cause serious injuries to those taking part in sports activities and dogs being walked in the park after the event.

The display will get underway at 7:30pm on Monday 5 November.
