The campaign encourages smokers to sign up to a 28 day stop smoking challenge for October.

During October, Smokefree St Helens will be visiting local communities across St Helens, providing free carbon monoxide health checks and pop-up stands where local people can speak to trained stop smoking advisers.

In particular, pop-up stands will be present throughout October in Church Square, St Helens.

Smokefree St Helens is St Helens Council’s stop smoking service, providing free, 1-2-1 support from trained stop smoking advisers to help local people quit smoking for good.

27-year old-service user Sandra said: “The stop smoking service and staff are fantastic, they were always there for support when I felt like I was going to smoke again, and I will not be going back to smoking again.”

Julie Tipton, Smokefree St Helens’ Operational Lead said: “Smokefree St Helens is focused on improving the health of people across the borough. All advisers are professionally trained and we’re proud of our results, which are amongst the highest in England. Stoptober is an important awareness campaign, highlighting the dangers of smoking to our local people and letting them know how they can access our free support to save money and make long-term health improvements.”
