Magicians, Mickey Mouse and farmyard animals were all on hand to help celebrate Abbeyford Children’s Home’s garden party in glorious sunshine.

The St Helens Council-run respite centre used the fair as an opportunity to celebrate its outstanding Ofsted rating which it received at the beginning of the year following an inspection in November 2019. Merseysippi Jazz Band and magician Jimbo Junior wowed the crowds at the event on Saturday.

The respite centre in Dentons Green offers short breaks for children and young people with complex health, learning and social communication needs.

Councillor Joe Pearson, Cabinet Member for Protecting Young People, said: “We are pleased so many people were able to join the team at Abbeyford for their garden party celebration. The praise and recognition of the hard work and collaboration by staff and families is well deserved.

“Families rely on the fantastic support offered to them by places like Abbeyford and the wonderful staff who make the experience a positive one for everyone. As a council it is important to us that we improve people’s lives through providing facilities like this and Ofsted clearly agree they make a difference.”
